PE100) Compared to other thermoplastics, PE-HD has a excellent diffusion resistance, which is why it has been used for many years in the construction of pipelines for safe transport of gases.
Another essential advantage of this material is its stability against lightning.
UV for outdoor use, and the flexibility and ductility for the
hot molded.
It has good thermal stability up to + 80ºC, a lower limit than
of PP (Polypropylene), but unlike the latter, PE-HD has
good resistance to freezing (down to –50ºC).
PP margin:
0ºC / + 100ºC (with peaks of + 120ºC).
Advantage:
- Low specific gravity of 0.95 g / cm3 (compared to 1.40 g./cm3 of PVC)
- Excellent chemical resistance (high resistance to acids, alkalis and solvents)
- Very good resistance to abrasion.
- Good resistance to impact.
- Resistance to atmospheric agents. Stable against UV rays.
- Resistant against all types of microbiotic corrosion.
- There is no possibility of overgrowth or deposit.
- It does not have any water absorption.
- Good weldability. Accepts hot processing / molding well.
Application:
PHYSIOLOGICALLY NON-TOXIC: Due to its composition free of special additives, PE-HD complies with the usual food regulations (ÖNORMB 5014 Part 1, FDA, BGA, KTW ...), making it physiologically acceptable. It can be used in drinking water pipes, although for hot sanitary water PP is recommended, due to its greater thermal resistance.
